The 13th IIR (International Institute of Refrigeration) conference on Phase-Change Materials and Slurries for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (PCM2021) conference was held on 1-3 September 2021. Originally planned to be hosted in Vicenza, Italy, the conference was held entirely online due to ongoing travel restrictions.
CEO of Thor Ice Chilling Solutions, Thorsteinn I. Viglundsson, attended the conference to present a paper written by the Thor Ice team, in collaboration with Dr. Jakob K. Kristjansson, titled “New Method of Processing Ice Slurry for Improved Chilling of Fresh Foods“. The paper describes the company’s unique ice slurry method and the patented IceGun® technology which is currently being applied in the processing of fresh poultry products. It also describes a method for data analysis and modelling for cooling chambers. The paper was published as part of the conference proceedings and can be retrieved at the IIR website.
