Horizon Magazine, the European Union‘s research and innovation magazine that brings the latest news and features on EU funded projects, has published an article on food infection mitigation measures featuring Thor Ice‘s unique technology. The article focuses on different ways of tackling the prevailing rates of food infections in Europe. It specifically focuses on reducing Campylobacter, a harmful bacteria found in poultry that can cause campylobacteriosis, the most commonly reported food-borne illness in the EU with estimated 9 million cases each year.

Last year, Thor Ice received a large Fast Track to Innovation grant as part of the EU‘s largest research and innovations programs, Horizon 2020. It is a two-year collaborative project with Matís, DTU and a large European poultry producer. The project involves large-scale industrial testing of the technology in two poultry plants in France, to analyse, confirm, and document its benefits in reducing bacteria growth and its compliance with new strict EU regulations (2017/1495) on bacteria in poultry products.
