MBL INTERVIEWS THOR ICE ON OCEAN CLUSTER ANNIVERSARY

MBL – Morgunblaðið newspaper has published an article including an interview and photo of Thor Ice CEO, Thorsteinn I. Viglundsson, and Production Manager, Birgir Josafatsson, to celebrate the Iceland Ocean Cluster’s 10 year anniversary.
The Iceland Ocean Cluster, founded in 2011, is an innovation hub situated by Reykjavik Harbour, operating a cluster of collaboration with over 70 companies that are operating in the seafood industry. Thor Ice Chilling Solutions is one of the first companies to join the Ocean Cluster, where the company’s offices are currently located.

CEO Mr. Viglundsson describes the cluster as an environment where entrepreneurs can support each other and gain access to a strong network within the industry. Collaboration and growing connections has been valuable in the company’s growth. Thor Ice started out in the fishing industry before entering the poultry market with its patented cooling solution.
Mr. Viglundsson highlights how support from Rannís – Icelandic Centre for Research and strong collaboration with Matís – Icelandic Food & Biotech R&D has made a significant difference in the company’s success, with Thor Ice being recognised by EIT Food as a Rising Food Star in 2019.
